Proteus Leviathan · Identity exploration · October 2026
Leviathan watches your systems, finds what is wrong, and fixes it live, in chat. It should look like something immense and on your side: clean, sharp, and a little frightening.
The rules every concept follows
Every mark is built from a small kit of parts: lenses (two arcs meeting at sharp tips), crescents, blades and straight knife cuts. The tips make it mean. The kit keeps it clean.
One cyan, used where the creature gives off light: the eye, the gem, the keystone. Blood red is held back for real incidents and never decorates.
Every icon below is a real render, downscaled from its 1024 master and shown at 1:1. Where a mark needs it there is an optical cut for favicons, never a different drawing.
Concept 01
The abyssal eye.
A single eye opening in the dark: a lens of bioluminescent light split by a slit pupil, under two lids of sonar that meet in the same needle corners. It answers the Proteus chameleon eye on purpose. Proteus looks around, curious and round. Leviathan's eye is a predator's, and it never closes.
MeansWatching over: the agent that never sleeps.
Wordmark
Lambda. Wide, even and cinematic. The A drops its bar and becomes a peak, so the V and the two Lambdas set up a rhythm of chevrons.
Drawn letterforms, outlined. No font is needed to render them anywhere.

Concept 02
The world serpent.
In the old lore Leviathan circles the world with its tail in its jaws. In Hobbes it is the sovereign that keeps everyone inside it safe. One closed line does both: a ring that tapers from a crowned head to a needle tail, with everything inside it under its protection.
MeansEncircling protection: one sovereign over every host.
Wordmark
Engraved. A Roman capital with sharp wedge serifs and real thick-thin contrast: the lettering of a seal on a 1651 frontispiece.
Drawn letterforms, outlined. No font is needed to render them anywhere.

Concept 03
The strike.
The moment Leviathan takes an incident in its teeth. A serpent head cut down to two blades of jaw and a crescent fang, rising at thirty degrees, with one slit of light for an eye. It is the meanest of the five, and the only one that says fix instead of watch.
MeansThe live fix: Leviathan bites.
Wordmark
Heavy blade. Dense weight and knife-cut terminals. The V drops a fang below the baseline and the A rises to a point above the cap line.
Drawn letterforms, outlined. No font is needed to render them anywhere.

Concept 04
The trident.
Rule of the deep. A spear-shaped lens rises through a horned crescent with a cut gem of light at the heart, so three strokes make a trident, a crown and a pair of horns. It is the most heraldic of the set: quiet at a distance, sharp up close.
MeansProteus makes the storm. Leviathan rules the deep.
Wordmark
Tines. Extended and light. Every horizontal ends in a spear point, so the E is a trident lying on its side.
Drawn letterforms, outlined. No font is needed to render them anywhere.

Concept 05
The armour.
Job 41: his scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal; one is so near to another that no air can come between them. A heater shield of locked plates, each row overlapping the one below, with the keystone lit. Protection made literal, and it keeps its shape at 16 px.
MeansDefence in depth: no air between the plates.
Wordmark
Plate. Armoured. Every outer corner is cut at 45 degrees, and the A's bar floats like a riveted plate.
Drawn letterforms, outlined. No font is needed to render them anywhere.

Side by side
All five at 64, 32 and 16 px, then the favicon cut at 16, on dark and on light. Real renders at 1:1, no hand tuning after the downscale.

Palette and tokens · brand/tokens.css
Cold blue-blacks that read as depth, not as grey; one bioluminescent cyan; signals held in reserve. The tokens are in brand/tokens.css as CSS custom properties. Raw colours are --lv-*; the UI builds on the semantic --lv-ui-* layer, which flips under [data-theme="light"].

Proteus dark ground
Grounds are a radial fall-off from a faint teal-black to void, never a flat fill: the light comes from above, like water.
Light is a gradient from the glint to deep cyan, with a soft glow under it on dark grounds only. On light grounds the mark goes flat in #0790b8.
Blood and amber mean an incident or a warning and nothing else. The brand never wears them.
Proteus wordmark makeover
Same chameleon, same greens. Each wordmark is drawn on the same cap height and construction as one of the LEVIATHAN voices, so both names can share a line and still look like two different animals.
Option 1
The heavy round voice Proteus already has, redrawn on the family grid. The P still sheds pixels, now as three squares on the same module as the letters.
Option 2
Octagonal cuts on every curve, the construction the armoured LEVIATHAN uses. Proteus keeps its weight and its green; the two names now share a geometry.
Option 3
Wide and light, every corner stepped like a pixel staircase: the chameleon's tail turned into a typeface. Sits on the same width and tracking as the Lambda LEVIATHAN.
The family
The chameleon and the Leviathan mark face each other across a hairline. Proteus stays green and pixelated, Leviathan stays bone and cyan, and the shared letter construction holds them together.

Notes
Recommended
It is the strongest app icon of the five, it holds at 16 px, and it is the only one that answers the Proteus eye directly: the round, curious eye of the shape-shifter against the slit pupil of the thing that watches. The Lambda wordmark is wide and cinematic and does not compete with it. Signal's pixel staircase keeps Proteus unmistakably Proteus beside it.
Runner-up: 03 Maw, if the brand should lead with the fix rather than the watch. It is the meanest mark here and its heavy wordmark is the most aggressive.
